Why did you become a technician? I attended a car safety seat checkup event when my oldest child was 6 weeks old. We had added an aftermarket insert to the car seat to “aid” head support; the packaging said that it was approved to be used with all car safety seats. In fact, the insert pushed his head forward and “aided” poor harness fit. I was so frustrated that I did something wrong that potentially could have harmed my baby. I decided to get involved and teach other parents how to use their car safety seat correctly. My participation in Child Passenger Safety quickly progressed from being a community volunteer to my career. I love my job and helping families every day!
Tell us about an interesting experience you have encountered in the field. I really enjoy working with the children who are the escape artists from their car safety seats. I enjoy the challenge of finding a way to keep them in the vehicle whether it is using a conventional or specialized car safety seat.
